Vertical leap is one of the most difficult things an athlete can achieve. Basically, the vertical leap is a measure of how high an individual or athlete can elevate off the ground from a standstill and it ultimately determines how “athletic” a considered athlete really is. Some exercises include:
Deep Knee Bends — Be standing. Slowly bend at the knees while keeping your back straight. Slowly crouch down as low as possible (it should not hurt) and slowly rise back up. Do this 15 times. Over time increase to 20, 30, etc.
Deep Knee Bend Jumps — Be standing. Crouch down as described above but fairly quickly, almost touching your bottom to the ground, then explode upwards as high as you can. The moment you land, immediately crouch and launch back up again. Do this 15 times, and when you can, increase to 20, 30, etc.
Toe Raises — Stand regularly, then raise up onto the tips of your toes. Lower back down. Don’t just rock up and down, do it slowly (not too slowly) but steadily. Repeat 30-50 times.
Toe-Raise with Weights — If you have any sort of weights, holding/wearing them while doing these toe raises will help. Use small weights (a mere 5 or 10 pounds is fine) and work your way up.
Stomach Crunches — We believe that sit-ups are bad for your back. Stomach crunches, where while lying on your back, using your ab muscles and keeping your back straight, you rise up just enough to lift your shoulders off the ground, are better. Do them often - perhaps for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night.
Jumping Rope— Jumping rope definitely helps your vertical leap. Jump rope while watching tv or something. Make it a habit.
*Don’t forget to warm up! You need to stretch your muscles or you can easily injure yourself. Try a quick jog for 5 minutes, or maybe some jumping jacks.
To capture the potential of having an enormous vertical leap without wasting money on products that don’t work, you need a method proven by over a thousand athletes (and counting) from 46 states and 9 different countries. Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers started its NBA history as the Buffalo Braves in 1970. The name was changed to Clippers when the team moved to San Diego. The name, picked from a contest, is in reference to the city’s history as a harbor for Clipper ships and the Star of India which was still harbored in San Diego. The name was kept when they moved to Los Angeles.
During their Braves days, the team sported a sky-blue look. After moving west to San Diego and renaming themselves as the Clippers, the uniform went to a slightly different shade of blue while adding “SAN DIEGO” across the front. Upon its move to Los Angeles, the Clips turned the light blue to a very dark navy and removed the city name for the big “Clippers” on the front. The team then abandoned the blue for a striking red ensemble in 1986. With a few seasons in LA under their belt, they grew proud of their base and emblazoned “LOS ANGELES” across the front of their uniform. But the Clips went back to having the team nickname on the front in 1988. The present Clippers’ uniform remains true to the previous one, but with a little more blue down the side, recalling the blue of the Braves. The team’s logo boats “Los Angels Clippers” written in a blue script cutting through a red basketball. Official team colors are red, white and blue.
Los Angeles Lakers Jerseys
The Los Angeles Lakers have proven themselves as one of the best teams in the NBA since the 1960’s. With the NBA Hardwood Classic Nights, the Los Angeles Lakers have been wearing some of the old jerseys to honor the first teams of the NBA. But there is not really much any difference between the old and new jerseys, just minor changes have been made and adopting the colors purple and gold.
Let’s take a look back at the jerseys of the Los Angeles Lakers through the years. In early 1960’s, George Mikan brought the Lakers to 5 NBA titles. The colors used in the jerseys before were white and light blue with yellow trimmings on the road. Before, being the Los Angeles Lakers, this team was called the Minneapolis Lakers.
The next jersey is even bolder with a new share of color. They ditched the light blue color and opted for a darker navy blue. They also changed how the team’s name is written, before it was just plain and changed it to a scripted form. The L.A. Script is what the current team will be wearing when they go retro.
By the late 60’s the Lakers has adopted the colors of purple and gold. And this color scheme has lasted for more than two decades. Only some modification to the numbers was made. By 1980’s the font color is purple and some changes in the font style.
When it was Shaquille’s time with the Lakers, the jerseys were done in mostly gold. Showing off their back-to-back championships with this color. But of course, the purple and white color is still evident. Currently, they have a white home jersey. With the 2008 season, the Lakers are still wearing their purple jerseys while they wear the white jerseys at home games.

Basketball players need immediate results in order to compete at a high level. Since the players in today’s game are so athletic, physical training becomes the grand separator. In designing an effective training program, a player needs to understand two major focal points;
* Individual skill practice must take place on a daily basis
* Conditioning/Training does not replace individual skill practice
Once the above two factors are understood, immediate progress has been made. If you are a smart player, you will make your skill work, conditioning because of how hard you work. But, as stated previously, it does not replace conditioning. Think of it as a double benefit. The daily skill work requirement of a big-time player is ball handling, passing, defending, rebounding, and movement training. The fundamental skills of basketball must be mastered and are considered imperative for a players success.
* Ball Handling
A player needs to master handling a basketball in a stationary style first. This is a prerequisite to moving with a basketball. Anyone who does not have absolute mastery over a basketball needs to focus on the Maravich Drills for their stationary movement. Most of my athletes start their individual workouts with five minutes of this nonstop at a very high intensity level.
Once mastery is attained, basic movements are used for traveling ball handling. Moves that are used in the game are emphasized. These game-time moves include change of direction, hesitation, in and out, crossover, in and out into crossover and pull back into crossover. These moves are critical for big-time results and are used in the game.
* Passing
If you have a wall to pass to, you have all you need. Make a mark on a brick wall and hit it one hundred times with your bounce, chest, overhead, one hand underhand, one hand overhand, and lob passes. Concentrate on starting every pass in the triple threat, strong with the ball position. Keep the basketball to yourself and do not give it away.
Once you have mastered the stationary passing, you can progress to moving. You can use that same wall, just take a strong dribble to the left or right and then go through the same series of passes. Once you master once dribble, proceed to two dribbles.
* Rebounding
Rebounding is timing, the ability to read the ball off the rim, and positioning. Like all the other skills, proper repetition will give way to serious results. When you perform your shooting drills, follow all of your shot, and finish them. Take the ball strong to the rim with authority. Shooting drills are the keys to rebounding and this is due to your repetitions of reading the ball off the rim.
* Defense and Movement Training
Since my retirement from professional basketball, I have realized there is a serious void in this area. There are tremendous individual skill coaches out there who do a great job but there is a lack of movement training coaches. To give you another example, why would a player who has not mastered his own bodily movement try to add weight to it? A body is only as efficient as his levers allow him to be. Remember, it is not always the skills or a weightlifting program as much as it is the players ability to move randomly.

Fantasy football is a game where you the user acts as the General Manager of a football team. This can be any type of football but the most popular in the UK is Premier League FF, and in the USA, NFL FF.
The game is very easy to play and the variety of systems and sites provide everything you need to get started. It is a 100% social experience with the internet being the main reason why it is so popular today.
For those of you who are looking for any opportunity to stretch out the fantasy season as long as possible, take a look at NFL Fantasy Football which is thriving as an NFL fan obsession. The game creates new and powerful networking dynamics by bringing employees from every level of the organization chart together and different departments for five months during the NFL season. I love football and College Football is where my heart lies, but the NFL knows that to keep guys like myself truly interested every week that they need to embrace the game and they’ve certainly done that. Before the NFL season starts, managers/coaches draft their own team, consisting of NFL players. You can also take a visual tour of NFL stadiums and see fans at their wildest before, during and after games. To score points, the players from your team need to score on the NFL field. Team managers have at their finger tips much of the information that most fantasy sites leave out such as NFL player information, NFL schedules, NFL injury reports and NFL depth charts. Choose your roster of NFL stars and watch every week as they try to tackle, throw, and run your team to victory.
Although fantasy football is huge these days and everyone seems to play it, there are some that don’t know what it is all about. Free Fantasy Football is best played online, without downloading any software, and with all the stats at your fingertips. Yahoo Fantasy Football is a rapidly growing site to play the game for free. Sports Fantasy Football is live and features play for free for your league, your way - control scoring, rosters and more. Basic Commissioner controls, live online drafts, league communication Tools, and both public and custom leagues are available. An exciting time is ahead if you look into a fantasy league season and the game is about having fun and humiliating your friends and colleagues at the same time, especially trying to get one over on your boss!

There are two important things in basketball, one is your shot and the other is your vertical jump. You have probably seen many players on the shorter side with incredible hops that you couldn’t believe and thought were God given talent. Well, they might be, but many high school and college players are taking their average vertical jumps and transforming them into amazing hops thanks to vertical jump training.
The proof begins with players who as short as 5′7″ have increased their vertical and can actually dunk a basketball! By using the right training program, players have transformed average verticals to unbelievable verticals. There are plenty NBA players with verticals that are significantly less than what players achieve when they use vertical jump programs. In fact, the average prospect for the NBA has a one-step vertical of 28-30 inches. It’s possible to achieve a vertical closer to 42 inches with the right program. Transform your average vertical it into an amazing vertical with a few easy steps. High school players can enhance their talent and skills and increase their odds of being chosen for a college team. The same goes for college players looking to stand out on the court. An amazing vertical will certainly do that and could be the path to the NBA. Above all, men and women basketball players can simply play better ball by improving their hops.
What’s a Vertical Plan about? High school and college basketball players have a lot of competition and must practice long and hard to stand out. However, they must know how to practice and train in the best way for their bodies. For example, the average linebacker has a vertical of 36 inches although he weighs significantly more than most basketball players. This is shocking at first, but it proves the basis of vertical jump training, which is there are core muscle groups that must be trained to develop an explosive vertical jump. Power and strength are what are most important for the highest vertical jump possible.
The basis of the plan is to determine the athlete’s force, speed, bodyweight and body fat percentage. All of these numbers are used to create a specially designed program for each individual athlete. The most important aspect of an amazing vertical is strength and knowing how the individual athlete should train to build that strength.
