If you are interested in outdoor adventures and reenacting war like games, then paintball sports may be for you. Paintball games involve a group of people, normally broken up into two teams, competing against each other.

Each team works to eliminate players from the opposing team by hitting or marking them with their paintballs. The rules and regulations can change depending on the league and/or paintball team. Some teams simply choose to play until all of the teammates from one team are eliminated while others choose to plant a flag that the other team will have to capture in order to win.

Paintball sports can be a great recreational experience, as well as providing lots of exercise. It is also important to note that this activity is not just a sport for young people. People of all ages are enjoying taking to the paintball field and the number of those participating are growing every year.

Paintball is also not just a sport for men, as more and more women are also taking to the paintball field and making their mark in the world of action paintball. It is a sport of strategy, one capable of building both strength and character.

The concept of paintball sports was first conceived in the 1970s, but the first game was not actually played till the 1980s. Today, the game has taken huge steps since the first game was played. There are many variations of the game.

If you are trying to get a handle on what it is all about, then try thinking of a game that combines capturing the opposing team’s flag, an old west shootout and a child’s game of hide and seek. The game is a combination of strategy and survival techniques and will show you just how well you can succeed at a high speed game of cat and mouse.

The paintball field can vary from group to group. You may find yourself playing in a league that uses a well designed playing field or simply trekking through the woods to hunt their prey. No matter what the field, rugged terrain or paintball park, this fast paced game can be both fun and challenging.

  • Skydiving has been around since World War I, when the military used it for stealth missions. Today’s skydiving technology would be unrecognizable by the soldiers of foregone years. The improvements made in design and safety have made it possible for ordinary folk to enjoy this sport in greater and greater numbers. Falling through the sky at more than 120 mph has a great appeal for a lot of thrill seekers.

New parachute designs are one of the biggest technological changes we have witnessed in recent years. Old parachutes were just a half a ball made of nylon, with a hole in the middle for the air to go through. A parachute today looks more like a bird’s wing than a lightweight ball and this design gives the parachuter a great deal of control. Even though the skydiver is falling through the sky at over 120 mph, he can quickly stop that descent by opening the parachute.

Another new development is an altimeter that lets the diver know the optimum time for deploying the chute. In the old days, the parachuters relied on visual reckoning and gut feelings.

This altimeter has now become one of the most important new pieces of equipment for a skydiver, second only to his parachute and his reserve chute.

Skydivers today want to get the most fall time as they can, so relying on an altimeter can allow them to calculate the exact moment when they will have to open. Recent advances have even produced altimeters that correctly read the distance to earth when the diver is doing tricks or flying upside down.

Choosing a parachute is determined by the type of skydiving the person is going to do. Arrowhead shapes are popular, as are the wing designs, and some still prefer the old fashioned round parachute. Helmets have also undergone some design changes that allow for less injury if the diver hits the ground wrong. Of course, no helmet will help a diver if his chute doesn’t open properly or too late.

Every parachutist should carefully examine their gear every time they parachute. Any weaknesses or tears, any fraying of cords or harness straps should alert the diver that its time for replacement. Even a seemingly unimportant item such as the skydiving jumpsuit can create danger if it is frayed or has holes in it. These faults will cause the wind to travel over the suit diffidently and will affect the fall to earth.

  • In the sport of paintball there are many different types of game variants. One popular game variant is Terminator, which often consists of one player against the rest. The rules are as follow:

    • The Terminator must be shot in the head to be eliminated
    • Anyone shot by the Terminator must join the Terminator’s team
    • The usual kill rules apply to those on the Terminators team (one hit one kill)

As you can see, Terminator is a pretty simple game that can provide hours of entertainment. However, after a while the game can get old, so here is an alternative to Terminator that is bound to bring life back to this old game variant.

Chuck Norris, the chief exporter of pain, is now a game variant for paintball. If you know what the paintball game “Terminator” is, then you should forget it was ever called that and start calling it “Chuck Norris!” It’s the new trend in paintball, so be sure to round house kick anyone who tries to correct you when you.

    • So this is the game (played just like Terminator but with a new twist):
    • Choose one person to be Chuck Norris (being able to round house kick makes you Chuck Norris automatically)
    • Only headshots can get this person out (but remember, Chuck Norris does not get hit by paintballs. Paintballs get hit by Chuck Norris)

As you can see, the Chuck Norris never gets out. Ever. He just keeps playing.

Oh, and if there are multiple people that know how to round house kick then choose who can do it the best (or have them duke it out, it’s up to you).

If you are playing paintball and get the chance to play regular boring terminator and you get shot as the terminator, keep playing! When they ask you why you kept playing, tell them you thought you were playing Chuck Norris style terminator.

  • Airsoft Guns - A Learning Tool?

Okay so, little Johnny wants an Airsoft Gun. The first thing that invades your brain is the age old BB gun nemesis phrase “You’ll put your eye out”. NO WAY JOHNNY, No Guns for you! They are too dangerous, you’ll just get hurt. Well before you make any quick judgments like that let me say that you may be thinking about this the wrong way.

First of all Airsoft Guns are not your typical BB or Pellet gun that shoots metal projectiles at forceful velocities that could actually kill small animals or break a window. In most cases Airsoft Guns use a 6mm Plastic BB (round ball) that will not break a window even at close range. Not that Airsoft Guns don’t pack some power, because they do. I just wanted to distinguish between traditional BB/Pellet guns and Airsoft Guns. They are just not the same thing.

Okay back to Little Johnny. Instead of denying Johnny of his insatiable curiosity about guns, give him a good life lesson on safety practices that will last him a lifetime. Just because you won’t buy him an Airsoft Gun doesn’t mean that he will never shoot one. I’ll bet he’s down the street at Ralph’s house shooting the neighbors cat right now. Well, Lets hope not but that’s where the good life lesson in Safety comes in and best of all he will be learning it from you, not Ralph.

Here’s what you do. Get Johnny a Cheap Airsoft Gun and some 6mm plastic bb’s. Get some eye goggles or a mask and a real “Target Practice” Target We don’t want to use cans or bottles or the neighbor’s cat as targets, okay? Then get ready for some real family fun in the comfort of your backyard. Teach Johnny how to always evaluate the area of play for potential accidents. How to make good decisions based on a safety perspective. It’s a good opportunity to teach real gun safety, and that will last forever. So Instead of having a knee jerk reaction to the whole thing, use it to help grow the youngsters safety awareness. That truly is an invaluable lesson that will last a lifetime. Well, until next time thanks for stopping by.
